Will Packer And Eva Longoria To Produce New Comedy For NBC!

Will Packer is known for producing movies featuring African American characters, including the hit Ride Along and Think Like a Man franchises. Eva Longoria is producing two series with Latino protagonists, Devious Maids and NBC’s upcoming Hot & Bothered, in which she stars. Now Packer and Longoria have teamed for Bonita & Mechelle, a multi-camera comedy for NBC, which centers on two women, one Hispanic and one African American. The women find themselves living together while conquering the ups and downs of single life and parenting.

Written by Kriss Turner Towner (The Soul Man), Bonita & Mechelle hails from Will Packer Prods. and Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment. Universal TV, where both companies are under deals, is the studio. Towner executive produces with Packer and UnbeliEVAble’s Longoria and Ben Spector. Will Packer Prods.’ Korin D. Huggins co-executive produces.

This marks the third sale for Will Packer Prods. this season, joining the hourlong Under Her Thumb and Buckhead, which also went to NBC. The company, which started its expansion into TV last year, has two new series for this coming season, Truth Be Told on NBC and Uncle Buck on ABC. Packer, repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham, also executive produces the Roots remake for A+E Networks. In features, he recently executive produced hit Straight Outta Comptonand his next film is the Ride Along sequel, which comes out in January.

In addition to Bonita & Mechelle, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment has a comedy penned by Hot and Bothered writer-producer Rob Sudduth set at NBC as well as projects in development at HBO Films and NBC International. The company is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.
