WATCH: New Trailer For ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Released!

Posted Dec 8, 2016
With a thwip and quip, Spidey is back in action in the first Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer.

Star Tom Holland stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday to show off the trailer.

The Jon Watts-directed film is truly a homecoming for Spider-Man, with it being the character’s first solo outing set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland says his version of Peter Parker will be different from previous incarnations played by Tobey MaGuire (2002-07) and Andrew Garfield (2012-14) — and will also be a new type of hero for the MCU.

“You’ve seen the billionaire, the scientist, the soldier. Now it’s time to see the kid,” Holland recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “And every decision we make on set is based off, ‘How would a kid react in this situation?’ so every fight scene we have is designed in a way that’s almost child-friendly, so he never actually punches anyone. It’s all done kind of by accident. I think the biggest difference is his youth and innocence.”

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) will return along side Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) too. Spider-Man will battle Michael Keaton, who is playing the villainous Vulture. Homecoming will be Keaton’s third superhero film after Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). Zendaya is playing the female lead, who has been rumored to be the classic love interest Mary-Jane Watson, though the actress says her character is not a romantic interest.

Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming will be release on July 7, 2017.
