Watch: The New Season 4 Trailer ‘Orange Is the New Black’!

Posted May 11, 2016

Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” may have ended with a rare moment of happiness for our inmates last year, but the newly released trailer for Season 4 promises dark times ahead as Litchfield transitions to a for-profit prison, with 100 new women arriving to make conditions even more cramped and tempers even more frayed.

The new arrivals also bring in a slew of inexperienced guards, and the official plot description for the new season reveals that the racial and economic tensions that run rampant in the halls of Litchfield will contribute to “an unprecedented culture war” in the upcoming episodes.

“Do you know the difference between pain and suffering?” Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning) asks in the new trailer, foreshadowing the chaos to come. “Pain is always there. But suffering is a choice.”

Lea DeLaria (who plays Big Boo) and Jackie Cruz (Flaca) have been promoted to series regulars this season. New additions with recurring roles in Season 4 include Brad William Henke, Mike Houston, and Kelly Karbacz, with Blair Brown’s celebrity chef Judy King also settling in at Litchfield. “People are always trying to desexualize women my age, and I just won’t allow it,” Judy proudly tells Poussey (Samira Wiley) in the new promo.

“Orange Is the New Black” Season 4 premieres on Netflix on June 17. Season 1-3 are currently streaming. The show was renewed for an additional three seasons earlier this year, which will keep it on Netflix through Season 7.
