Earlier this year, Idris Elba reprised his role as Luther in the one-off parody episode of his hit BBC series for Sport Relief – a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

“This year, for Sport Relief, Luther will be appearing in a totally different light. I am so proud to be lending my support to this cause again,” Elba said. “I hope that you will enjoy the different side of Luther.”

For the “Luther” parody, Elba reunited with co-star Ruth Wilson, who plays nemesis Alice Morgan in the BBC One crime drama. The pair were joined by Lenny Henry, former England footballers Rio Ferdinand and Ian Wright, boxer David Haye, Olympians Usain Bolt, Denise Lewis, and Louis Smith, and actress Cecilia Noble.

Destiny Ekaragha directed the “Luther” spoof. Her name should be familiar to readers of this blog as we’ve covered her past work, including 2 feature films, “Gone Too Far” and “Danny and the Human Zoo,” as well as her shorts.

The celebrity-laden segment was shown as part of a star-studded weekend on the BBC in the annual BBC One spring showcase hosted this year by Claudia Winkleman.

The 7 1/2 minute humorous “Luther” spoof has now finally made its way online for the rest of the world to watch it; check it out below:
