Tracy Morgan Comes to Netflix With All-New Stand-Up Comedy Special STAYING ALIVE

Netflix remains aggressive in ordering these comedy specials seemingly in an effort to become the marquee home for them, from top talents like Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K. and others; the premiere streaming platform has now inked a deal with Tracy Morgan to make his much-anticipated return to stand-up in a special aptly titled “Staying Alive.”

The stand-up special, shot before a packed house at New Jersey’s landmark Count Basie Theatre, will launch globally on Netflix Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

In it, Morgan explores his renewed take on life, career and mortality following the devastating near-fatal 2014 traffic collision he was involved in. From coping with a traumatic brain injury and learning to walk again to “falling for” his physical therapist, and deciding that maybe getting older isn’t such a bad thing, Morgan returns to form, tackling the most trying time of his life from an expected hilarious point of view his fans have grown to love.

Morgan – who last year headlined a nationwide stand-up tour titled, “Picking Up the Pieces” – can currently be seen in the just-released film “Fist Fight,” where he stars alongside Ice Cube and Charlie Day. His numerous projects ahead include a Richard Pryor biopic, “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?,” where he’ll star as Redd Foxx; big-screen comedy “The Clapper”; and a forthcoming TBS series, in which Morgan will star.
