The 'Think Like A Man' Sequel Is Officially On- And Is The Story Going To Be In Las Vegas?

Posted Jun 28, 2012

As we reported several months ago before the original Think Like A Man film even dropped, we heard that Screen Gems would seriously consider  making a sequel to the hit film that starred Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Taraji P Henson and Gabrielle Union (and many others) if it was moderately successful.  What the studio did NOT expect was the film to be VERY successful at this point with over $90 Millions dollars at the box office and counting!

When the film was released opening weekend, we conducted an interview with Director Tim Story who just about confirmed to us that if the film was successful Screen Gems would move forward with a sequel, as the film was expected to gross 15-20 million opening weekend and came close to almost $35 Million instead! (If you recall, Story told us that if there was a sequel, the story would probably have the men go to Las Vegas and would center on a weekend trip dealing with marriage.) That same day, one of our insiders at Screen Gems told us that the film was a “go” and that the new would come shortly.

Well, we waited for the news and it finally became official today.

Check out the article from The Hollywood Reporter;

Merryman and Newman wrote the first movie, which made Hollywood notice star Kevin Hart and grossed over $91 million domestically when it was released in April 20.

The movie followed four couples where the women use Harvey’s advice to reign in their men.

Will Packer will return to produce via his Rainforest Films banner. Harvey is executive producing on the project alongside Rushion McDonald and Rob Hardy.

It is unclear which cast members will return at this stage, although Hart is a likely candidate, since he just joined Screen Gem’s About Last Night remake.

Screen Gems has greenlit the sequel but has not dated it.

Merryman and Newman, repped by APA, Circle of Confusion and Stone Meyer, also wrote Friends with Benefits, which starred Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.
