For today’s episode of the stand up spotlight, we are featuring the comedian known as Cherla!
Born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma, by her parents Rev. Ardellas and Deloris Marshall and protected by her four brothers, Cherla learned early on how to get and maintain your attention.
Cherla attended Northeastern State University, where she received her B.A. degree in Mass Communication with emphasis in Journalism and Psychology. Cherla became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, where she learned the true meaning of sisterhood! A self-described “goof ball,” Cherla always wanted to pursue a comedy career and every year around her birthday, Cherla would try to build up enough courage to perform Stand Up Comedy.
So she finally performed her first comedy set at Penguins Comedy Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and she has not looked back since! Cherla has won several comedy contests, created her own comedy shows, and has filmed several independent films. She credits all her gifts and talents to God, from whom all blessings flow, and her parents, who taught her to love everybody!
