Well, look at that! Sometimes collective movement in one direction can yield preferred results.
Not only has Saturday Night Live added a black woman to its cast (actress/comedian/writer Sasheer Zamata, announced on Monday HERE), producers of the variety show have gone even further, adding 2 black women writers to its writing staff!
Per a Hollywood Reporter report, LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones (who were actually amongst the many women who auditioned for the job that eventually went to Sasheer Zamata, when producers held a special casting for black women actors/comedians last year), have been hired to join SNL‘s writers’ room.
The pair will start work next week Monday!
Zamata will make her debut on the series during that week’s episode of the show, which is perfectly-timed. Let’s see if we notice their individual (or collective) influences on that episode, which airs on the 18th of this month.
Who knows, maybe there’ll be future episodes in which all 3 women actually appear in skits on the show.
