Hires will play one of four new series regular characters added after the pilot as the project is being revamped by Hawaii Five-0 showrunner Peter Lenkov, with only Till and Eads staying on from the original pilot.
MacGyver follows a 20-something MacGyver (Till) as he creates a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.
Hires will play Wilt Bozer, MacGyver’s ambitious roommate. CBS TV Studios is co-producing with Lionsgate TV.
Actor-comedian Hires (21 Jump Street, Key & Peele) is a home-grown CBS talent. He was featured in the 2011 edition of the network’s diversity showcase, and then the network gave him his first major role last year when he was cast as Carter in Rush Hour, based on the hit movies.
Hires is repped by Sherry Marsh of Marsh Entertainment and attorney Mark Temple.
