A new casting rumor from our pals at ThatHashtagShow suggests that comedian Dave Chappelle has landed a supporting role in Eddie Murphy’s Coming 2 America, a sequel to the classic comedy Coming To America. Dave recently had a part in the Oscar-winning film A Star Is Born and they also reveal that his character would be Baba, an old shaman from Zamunda.
According to a source close to That Hashtag Show, Dave Chappelle is the latest to join the decades-in-coming sequel. In Coming to America 2, the comedian would play a character named Baba. Baba is old shaman from Zamunda that advises King Jaffe and later Prince Akeem.
Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow) will direct and recently worked with Eddie on the film Dolemite Is My Name. The studio is said to be considering bringing back original co-stars Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, Fred Amos, and James Earl Jones.
Akeem (Eddie Murphy) learns about a long lost son and must return to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.
We previously revealed they hope to get cameras rolling on August 8th and wrap sometime in late October.
Paramount Pictures has set the film’s release date for August 7th, 2020.
