Marvel Studios has announced that Rosario Dawson will be joining the cast of upcoming Netflix series Daredevil, based on the comic book superhero.
The 35-year-old actress appeared in both Sin City in 2005 and recently completed Sin City: A Dame To Kill For – slated for release this year – so is no stranger to the world of graphic novels.
Dawson’s role in Daredevil is described as being a ‘key guest-star’ so she won’t be appearing in every episode but will have a significant part.
And although her character is yet to be named, a description on Marvel’s website revealed she will be’a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings blind attorney Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.’
The actress joins Charlie Cox of Boardwalk Empire and Vincent D’Onofrio of Full Metal Jacket.
Although it hasn’t been announced when the series will be available for streaming, production starts this summer.
And once it’s on Netflix, all 13 episodes will be available at once.
In an official statement on Marvel‘s website, its Head of Television Jeph Loeb said: ‘Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for Marvel’s Daredevil. Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.’
Rosario also has a leading role in the upcoming comedy Finally Famous written, directed and also starring comedian Chris Rock.
