Prime Video announced on Wednesday that Marlon Wayans: Good Grief, the latest stand-up special from actor and comedian Marlon Wayans, will premiere on the platform in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on June 4th.
Taped at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, the special sees comedy meet therapy as Wayans works through his grief after recently losing both of his parents. In his new hour, he meditates on how his father taught him to be a man, the requirements to join the “Dead Mama Club,” the surprises you encounter when changing your aging parents’ diapers, who is the funniest Wayans, and more.
Marlon Wayans: Good Grief is produced by Wayans and Rick Alvarez’s Ugly Baby Productions and Amazon MGM Studios. Marlon Wayans, Rick Alvarez, Michael Rotenberg, Steve Harris, Craig Wayans, and Troy Miller served as executive producers of the special.
Since debuting his first comedy special, Woke-ish, on Netflix in 2018, Wayans has taken to Max with the specials Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me, Marlon Wayans: You Know What It Is, and Marlon Wayans Presents: The Headliners. On the acting front, his recent credits include Prime Video’s acclaimed sports marketing drama Air, Netflix’s horror comedy The Curse of Bridge Hollow, MGM/UAR’s Aretha Franklin biopic Respect with Jennifer Hudson, and Sofia Coppola’s On the Rocks for Apple and A24. Up next, he’ll be seen starring in Justin Tipping’s psychological sports thriller Goat, produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
Launched by Marlon and Alvarez in 2013, Ugly Baby has produced Netflix’s hit films Naked, Sextuplets, and The Curse of Bridge Hollow, as well as the A Haunted House franchise, three Max comedy specials and more.
Wayans is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, WME, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
