Paramount Developing Female Version Of ‘What Women Want’ Starring Taraji P. Henson

Posted Nov 15, 2017

Paramount is remaking the 2000 film What Women Want, led by a woman!

The original film starred Mel Gibson.

Paramount has tapped Taraji P. Henson to star in the remake, titled What Men Want, and it will be produced by Will Packer and James Lopez.

Deadline says they are fast-tracking it for release, setting it for January 2019.

The original starred Mel Gibson as a confident chauvinistic male who suddenly acquires the ability to hear what the women around him are really thinking. The new version follows a female sports agent (Henson) who has been constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. When she gains the power to hear men’s thoughts, she is able to shift the paradigm to her advantage as she races to sign the NBA’s next superstar.

Empire star Henson has two films coming out in Q1 of 2018: Tyler Perry’s Acrimony and the hotly-anticipated assassin thriller, Proud mary.
