LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) — Oprah Winfrey and director Ava DuVernay are set to collaborate once again in a new sci-fi film entitled A Wrinkle In Time.
The project which has been in development at Disney for six years, The Guardian reported. The movie is based on the 1962 Madeleine L’Engle novel of the same name and follows a young girl attempting to find her scientist father who is trapped inside the mysterious fifth dimension.
Deadline reported Winfrey is in final negotiations to take on the role of Mrs. Which, a witch character who helps out the young girl in her quest to save her father. The studio is also pursuing stars Kevin Hart and Amy Adams for key roles.
DuVernay is set to direct a script by Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee.
Winfrey and DuVernay last worked together on the Martin Luther King Jr. drama, Selma, which Winfrey starred in and helped produced in 2014.
The former daytime television host was recently seen in the television dramaGreenleaf and will be taking on the lead role in HBO film, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
