On this day in comedy on November 2, 2010 Katt Williams 9 Lives was released.
The documentary is a collection of older footage of Williams along with information on his meteoric rise to fame in comedy. Though much of the material was previously available to fans, many of the insights were new and enlightening. Intercut with revealing interview footage of Williams himself, this is a chronicling of his career, not a stand-up special, as some fans expected.
Written and directed by Phillip Andrew Morton, the documentary came during Williams’ self-imposed retirement. It features interviews with many of Williams’ colleagues (Luenell, Nick Cannon, Melanie Comarcho, Cookie Hull, Red Grant, Damon Wayans and John Witherspoon) and industry collaborators (Brit McAdams, Snoop Dogg, Tavis Smiley, Ice Cube and Ludacris).
For the Katt Williams aficionado looking to add to their collection of all things Katt Williams this is an excellent choice.
