Comedian, Actor, Voice-Over Artist, Impressionist, Screenwriter, Producer, Carlos Alazraqui was born in Yonkers, New York.
Best known for his role as Deputy James Garcia on the Comedy Central series Reno 911, Alazraqui got his start in show business competing in open mic contest in the mid-80s while attending Cal State University Sacramento. When he won the San Francisco International Comedy Competition after 4 years of working stand-up, Alazraqui took his prize money and moved to Los Angeles.
Alazraqui is regarded in the industry as a consummate voice-over artist; having served as the voice of the Taco Bell Chihuahua in the popular series of commercials and Nestor in Happy Feet. His massive list of animated credits include Bobbi Fabulous on Phineas and Ferb, Rocko and Spunky on Rocko’s Modern Life, Mr. Crocker and Juandissimo Magnifico on The Fairly Odd Parents, Winslow T. Oddfellow and Lube on CatDog, Lazlo and Clam in Camp Lazlo, Grandpapi Rivera in El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Mr. Weed on Family Guy (which Alazraqui hated leaving due to the surprising and untimely death of the character) as well as voices on Angry Beavers, KaBlam, Cow and Chicken and I am Weasal. He was the original voice of Spyro in the first game in the Spyro Dragon series. He also voices multiple characters in the Disney film Inside Out.
Industry insiders say Alazraqui’s natural voice has no hint of any accent. They also state that his Scottish accent is the best ever even though he came from Argentine parents. He uses many dialects and accents in his stand-up act and tours regularly. He’s appeared on “The Hollywood Squares” and the spin-off Reno 911 Miami! Carlos Alazraqui is currently voicing Tio Tortuga in the Disney show, Sheriff Callie’s Wild West.
