Nick Cannon Announces 'Drumline' Sequel AND TV Show Coming Soon!

Posted Feb 3, 2014

After much speculation, Nick Cannon has confirmed that he will be following up his 2002 hit “Drumline” with a sequel.

“[People talk about a ‘Drumline’ sequel] all of the time. They’re going to get mad at me, but I guess I can announce it now. It’s officially happening,” Nick announced on MTV 2′s  “Charlamagne & Friends.”

As most probably have already predicated, Nick says he won’t be starring in the project, as he’s a little too old to be playing a college kid at this point.

“I’m not in it. I’m just producing it,” he told Charlamagne. “I might make a cameo though.”

He wouldn’t give up too much about the movie’s storyline, but he did say that it will center around Black college life.

“It’s really going to be about that college experience, that Black college experience through music. So, it’s going to be pretty hot.”

Nick also revealed that he’s seeking to use the movie sequel to kick off a “Drumline” television series.

“I don’t want to give the story away but my whole goal is to do the ‘Drumline’ TV show, so this movie then goes into the storyline of what the “Drumline” TV show is about.” he said.

It’s still unclear whether or not the sequel will be released in theaters or a made-for-TV feature, but I’m sure more details will emerge as we get closer to the release date.
