NEW YORK, NY-: Last month, BoomChickBoom took home the top honors at the 2012 Los Angeles Web Series Festival held at the LAX Radisson Hotel. The award-winning all-female sketch comedy troupe this year won Best Ensemble Cast in the Comedy Category and Best Comedy Series awards.
“It’s not every day that you see an all-female sketch comedy troupe, so BoomChickBoom was like a breath of fresh air to the festival. These women are bonafide triple threats– exceptional actors, singers and dancers,” said Michael Ajakwe Jr., Executive Director & Founder of LAWEBFEST. “BoomChickBoom is old school in every way and just right for what’s missing in new media– women that can really bring it. I’m not surprised they did well at the LAWEBFEST Awards.”
Founded in 2010, the Los Angeles Web Series Festival takes web shows that are typically viewed on computers and mobile phones and showcases them on a big screen over the course of three days in front of a live audience. This year, the festival received hundreds of entries from all across the U.S. and eight countries. The Los Angeles Web Series Festival prides itself on its ability to provide an open platform for actors, writers, directors, producers and distributors to showcase their work within a supportive community setting; learn from the industry’s brightest and most innovative minds; and network for future opportunities.
Comediennes, Jaime Parker Stickle, Fredericka Meek and Tiffany Phillips, lead the all-female comedy troupe, BoomChickBoom. The group combines pop culture references, song spoofs and political satire for comedy that is quirky, intelligent and relevant. With training from The Groundlings, Second City, IO West and Improvatorium, the comediennes of BoomChickBoom can be seen and heard on television, film and stages worldwide. The troupe has headlined at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival (LACF) and is regularly featured in LACF’s Spotlight Series.
BoomChickBoom’s award nominated web-series, “BoomChickBoom Sketchisodes,” is currently airing on KoldCast.TV and Blip.TV. The troupe is now in production on their second season.
