What’s good on Centric? THE FIRST FAMILY! And we’re not talking about the Obamas. We’re talking about the Johnsons.
On April 19th, Centric, a BET Network, premiered the Byron Allen produced sitcom THE FIRST FAMILY starring a star-studded cast of television veterans including Christopher B. Duncan, Kellita Smith, Jackee Harry, Marla Gibbs, John Witherspoon, and legendary entertainer, Gladys Knight.
The new comedy series centers on William Johnson (Christopher B. Duncan), a Democrat who attempts to balance his family life with his wife Katherine (Kellita Smith) and their two sons and two daughters as they adjust to living in the White House, while maintaining his duties as the second African-American and 45th overall President of the United States. William also has to deal with other family members, including his boisterous sister-in-law Pauletta (Jackee Harry) and William’s own father Alvin (John Witherspoon), who despite his constant bickering with Pauletta, will sometimes partner with her for various schemes.
“There’s a huge shortfall of quality family sitcoms, and we are 110 percent committed to filling that enormous void,” said Byron Allen.
THE FIRST FAMILY airs Fridays at 8P/7C, followed by another Byron Allen-created sitcom, MR. BOX OFFICE, starring comedianBill Bellamy, Jon Lovitz, Vivica A. Fox, Tim Meadows, and Gary Busey.
