We just discovered that actor Morgan Freeman has landed a new role in the new film titled Lucy with Scarlett Johansson (of The Avengers fame) also attached. The film is the latest from Luc Besson which we hear is a new female-driven action-thriller.
The film Lucy is about Johansson’s character becoming a drug mule, but things go wrong when the specialized drugs go into her system and basically turns her into a bad-ass, giving her abilities she didn’t possess before. She gets powers like being able to move objects with her mind, not feeling any pain, kicking a variety of people’s butts, see into the future, etc. She uses her new abilities to get back at those who forced her into the drug mule business in the first place.
Freeman is set to play a professor who’s well-versed in evolution and the capabilities of the human brain, who Lucy is on a mission to find before she dies.
Besson wrote the script, and will produce through his Europa Corp shingle.
The film is set to go into production in September, in Paris and is being distributed by Universal.
Up next for Freeman is the comedy film Last Vegas which is set for November 1st.
