Michael Ealy is Secrets & Lies‘ new leading man. Coming off a villainous turn on Fox’s The Following, Ealy has signed on to star opposite Juliette Lewis on the second season of ABC’s anthology crime drama series Secrets & Lies. Lewis is the only cast member from Season 1, which starred Ryan Philippe, to return, with her unflappable Detective Andrea Cornell taking on a brand new case, this time involving Eric Warner (Ealy) and the investigation into his wife’s murder.
Smart, well-educated and hard working, Warner is at the top of his game — he’s the heir apparent to his family’s private equity firm in Charlotte, NC, newly married to “the one” and walking on air. Eric is attending a party to honor dad passing over the reins when suddenly tragedy strikes — his wife Kate is murdered, and life, as he knows it, is over.
Sleeper Cell and Almost Human alum Ealy has signed a one-year deal as the Secrets & Lies cases are self-contained.
On the feature side, Ealy co-stars in the Think Like A Man franchise and will next be seen starring opposite Sanaa Lathan in Screen Gems’ thriller The Perfect Guy, which opens in September. He is repped by Gersh and manager Darryl Taja.
Secrets & Lies, from ABC Studios, was developed for American television by Barbie Kligman based on the original Australian series. She executive produces with Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment, Hoodlum Entertainment’s Tracey Robertson & Nathan Mayfield and Timothy Busfield. Like the first season, Season 2 will launch in midseason.
