According to Variety, word is that Marlon Wayans and Essence Atkins are both set to star in the new film titled Smart Ass. The big news here is that Wayans will make his directorial debut-with Mike Tiddes- for the film.
Variety states that the comedy film is “described as a spoof of a various found-footage pics like “Paranormal Activity” and “The Devil Inside Me.” Rick Alvarez and Lisa Blum are producing the pic, which is currently filming in L.A.”
As you all probably already know, Atkins previously worked with Wayans on Paramount’s Dance Flick, which should make this interesting.
Another key point here is that this film is taking place at the same time the Richard Pryor biopic was scheduled to be filming. Looks like that gets pushed back even farther. Interesting…
