Paul Downs Colaizzo will pen the script for ‘The Down Beat,’ as well as an untitled cop drama for the network.
CBS is expanding its relationship with writer Paul Downs Colaizzo.
The scribe, who last season saw medical drama LFE go to pilot, has sold a pair of dramas to the network — including a Ryan Seacrest and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges produced marching band entry.
The Down Beat, from CBS Television Studios and Ryan Seacrest Productions, is described as an inspiring story of a former business mogul looking for personal retribution, who is determined to take down two warring gangs in the mean streets of Atlanta by offering possible teen recruits an unlikely refuge: a high school marching band.
Colaizzo will pen the script and exec produce alongside RSP scripted programming executive vp Nina Wassand Bridges.
The second drama is an untitled cop drama that centers on a charismatic and inspiring journey of a police officer who, after a tragic scandal, sets out to rebuild his personal life and rewrite the rules of policing in his Pittsburgh neighborhood.
Colaizzo will write and exec produce alongside CBSTVS-based Timberman/Beverly Productions’ Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly.
