Comedy is more than just a pleasant way to pass an evening, and humor is more than something that just amuses someone. They are interwoven into the fabric of our everyday existence. Weather comedians are sharing an entertaining story or making self-deprecating jokes after someone pays you a compliment, humor is everywhere. But one question arises in our mind that what is it for? Can humor, as comedy, change the way we feel or we think? Well, for Kyle Grooms it can. For him stand-up comedy is not something about just getting laughs, it is about changing what we think and maybe even what we do.

From the Kyle Grooms perspective, comedy becomes serious right from the point when he starts contemplating it as a career. For him, this is the point when consistent writing, ethereal stage presence, and originality along with preparedness become more important than ever before. Stage presence is something that comes with time but writing and preparedness are the aspects that should be innate to the artist. It is for the reason that people in the circle often say, To market yourself before being well prepared is like a call of death. Now people can understand that it is not all about smiles and giggles. It is a sincere attempt to amuse audiences.  Stand-up comedy also has close connections to music performances. A fluid standup monologue can draw comparisons to jazz musicians, improvisational riffs; both artists have mastered the art of timing.

Comedians essentially create sculptures of satire, carved out of the mundane lives of a common man and his perceptions. It is the emotional intelligence of Kyle Grooms which helps him to present these simple ideas and opinions in different hues of humor which tickles one’s funny bone. There are a number of distinct traits that define stand up and set it apart from a play, lecture, or concert. The setting in which stand up takes place is the conversational nature of the performer and the intent of the comedian as a performer, all make stand-up comedy an art form uniquely well suited for challenging audience social beliefs and ideas.

You can see him in his own half-hour special on comedy central film “I feel pretty”. He made multiple appearances on VH1, NBC, BET, CBS, including the famed “Chappelle’s Show.” His first album the legend of the jersey devil was one of iTunes top 100 comedy albums of 2009. With his accomplishment as Comedian, actor, and writer, he performs at some of the top comedy clubs around the world including, Gotham, New York, Los Angeles, Atlantic City, Scotland, China, Singapore, and Pakistan.

He couldn’t perform until May 2019; the two-month interval was the longest gap. He had been away from the stage in his more than 20-year improved comedy career. It was the most difficult time in his life. Things were slowly returning to normal.

In order to find the funny in his near-death experience, Grooms went through the trial-and-error process of telling his story on various stages throughout Miami.
