The heat wave just continues for comedian Kevin Hart as he is ramping up for his new film to be released this week titled Let Me Explain on July 3rd.
Why do we say that? Well some clever folks over at Universal Pictures are doing their homework as they decided to drop the trailer to his new film with Ice Cube titled Ride Along- that isn’t set to hit theaters until January 17, 2014- as they decided to drop the trailer the week during the Let Me Explain promotional tour.
Oh, did we mention Universal also is planning a sequel to the film?
Ride Along stars Cube, Hart, Tika Sumpter, Jay Pharoah, John Leguizamo and Bryan Callen, in a film that will see Hart play a high school security guard who is ready to get married, but must first survive a Training Day-like ride along experience with her tough cop brother, played by Ice Cube, who doesn’t want the marriage to happen and tries to scare Hart’s character away.
Sumpter plays Hart’s fiancee; Callen is a wily, undercover cop alongside Leguizamo; and Pharoah plays a street-smart informant.
Tim Story (Of Think Like A Man fame) directs the movie, while Will Packer is producing via his Rainforest Films banner, with Ice Cube’s Cube Vision, and Matt Alvarez’s LBI Entertainment.
Hart’s year is white hot to say the least with the remake of About Last Night, the sequel to Think Like A Man, his Real Husbands of Hollywood, Chris Rock’s upcoming dramedy, Finally Famous, a currently-untitled Screen Gems/Miramax collaboration from first-timer Jeremy Garelick, that will see The Book Of Mormon‘s Josh Gad, co-starring with Hart, a Lionsgate/Codeblack project titled Quick & EZ (no plot details yet), and more all coming up.
