Jamie Foxx To Direct A Short Film!

Posted Oct 15, 2012

According to our friends over at Shadow & Act, it seems that actor and comedian Jamie Foxx has jumped on board a Canon project where they compiled a bunch of actors and cinematographers to shoot a short film based on a photograph.

Here is the complete story:

It was first announced last month that Canon U.S.A.Inc. had aligned with 5 selected directors who will direct short films under the watchful eye of Ron Howard.

The five are Jamie FoxxEva Longoria, Biz StoneGeorgina Chapman and James Murphy, and they’ve all signed on for year two of Canon’s “Long Live Imagination” campaign and the next endeavor, “Project Imaginat10n,” where consumer photographs will inspire Hollywood films.

The films directed by Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Biz Stone, Georgina Chapman and James Murphy will be produced on the Cinema EOS System.

The “10” in “Imaginat10n,” represents ten storytelling elements (Discovery, Character, Mood, Goal, Backstory, Setting, Obstacle, Relationship, The Unknown and Time).

Skip ahead a month to today, to the announcement that 91 winning photographs have been selected, which the filmmakers will direct short films based on ten of the photos.

The celebrity directors are currently reviewing the winning photos to make their selections, craft their stories, develop their scripts and prepare to produce their own short films with Canon’s Cinema EOS System and DSLR cameras. The films will be produced by Freestyle Picture Company. All five films go into production between Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 and will premiere at a special “Project Imaginat10n” Film Festival.

The 91 winners of the photo contest span in age from 16 to 67 years-old and are from across the country. Here’s the full list (click HERE to learn more):
