Jamie Foxx Lands In The New Remake Of 'Annie'!

Posted Apr 29, 2013

Jamie FoxxAccording to several reports, we just discovered that actor comedian Jamie Foxx is back in the news again as he is in talks to land in the new urban film adaptation of Annie.

As we have reported previously, the Will SmithJada Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter produced musical film adaptation will be scored by Jay-Z and will star opposite Quvenzhane Wallis (of Beasts of the Southern Wild fame)

These reports state that Foxx will play a character named Benjamin Stacks who, in this new version of Annie, is the new Daddy Warbucks. In the original version of Annie , Daddy Warbucks is supposed to be an older gentleman; someone in his 50s, who also happens to be filthy rich, and is bald. In this new version with the casting of Foxx you can see the writers are taking this in a very new direction.

Will Gluck is directing the project, based on a script he revised, originally written by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna.

The remake of the Broadway musical will be released by Sony Pictures on December 252014.

Up next for Foxx is playing the president in Roland Emmerich’s White House Down, which opens June 28th, and he’ll be playing the villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, out next summer.
