According to several of our sources, Wednesday morning is going to be a very important day for the cast and crew of the new Martin Lawrence/Kelsey Grammer show on FX, known as Partners.
Wednesday will be when the network looks at the previous night’s numbers and combines them with the rest of the other nine episodes that premiered and then will decide if they are going to pick up the other 90 episodes.
We hope they will, but according to our sources, it looks like network exes are going to pass on the show. Now that doesn’t mean that the show will not get picked up anywhere else, like maybe on Netflix, but as of this writing it doesn’t seem likely.
According to the agreements made between the show’s executive producers and the network, in order for it to be picked up they had to meet certain guidelines in the ratings. But the show declined every week since its debut according to Nielsen, as it averaged a 0.35 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.12 million viewers overall in the 9 o’clock half-hour on opening night, but then dipped to its numbers last week as it drew just 380,000 total viewers for its 9 PM broadcast and 450,000 for its 9:30 PM airing.
That’s a drop of 55% among total viewers from last week’s 9 PM show and 36% from the 9:30 PM. Among adults 18-49 Partners had 125,000 for its first show last week and 178,000 for its second show that same night.
That’s a stone cold 72% drop from its 9PM August 11 airing and a 46% fall from last week’s 9:30 PM show.
As we stated, it looks pretty grim. But we will see on Wednesday morning what the decision will be.
