Great news for the fans of the Showtime hit television series Soul Food; it looks like the show will be coming back to television!
Our friends over at Mediabistro’s FishbowlLA states that a source close to Twentieth Century Fox has revealed the studio is planning to revive the hit television series. They state that Fox is planning on “revamping the drama series for a new generation”.
If you recall the series is based on the original 1997 film of the same name which was centered around the Josephs, an African-American family living in Chicago. The original film starred Vanessa L Williams, Michael Beach, Vivica A. Fox, Mekhi Phifer, Nia Long, Jeffrey D Sams, and former child actor Brandon Hammond. The Showtime cast included Vanessa A. Williams (the New Jack City actress), Nicole Ari Parker, Malinda Williams, Rockmond Dunbar, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Boris Kodjoe, and former child actor Aaron Meeks.
Whether any of the original cast from the movie or Showtime series will be involved is still unclear.
