Earlier today, a website known as MCU Exchange reported a news item that is picking up a lot of steam, especially if its true; according to their sources, Ava DuVernay (of Selma fame) has been tapped to direct Marvel’s film adaptation of Black Panther!
The website also states that Marvel has a “diversity plan” she was hired under that guise.
From MCU Exchange:
Part of the desire to hire DuVernay this early in the process (more than three years before Black Panther‘s release date of July 6, 2018) is to have her on the set ofCaptain America: Civil War, which will feature the first appearance of both Black Panther and his home country of Wakanda.
It should be noted that other sites have picked up the story and are running with it, but Marvel has not made any official announcement just yet, and that the film is still three years away. Not even a screenplay has been written, and many industry sites are stating that the film might not be released until July 2018. As we always do, we’ll keep you up to date on Black Panther news.
