Idris Elba will reprise his role as Luther in a one-off parody episode of the hit BBC series for Sport Relief – a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
“This year, for Sport Relief, Luther will be appearing in a totally different light. I am so proud to be lending my support to this cause again,” Elba said. “I hope that you will enjoy the different side of Luther.”
For the “Luther” parody, Elba will reunite with co-star Ruth Wilson, who plays nemesis Alice Morgan in the BBC One crime drama.
The pair will be joined by Lenny Henry, former England footballers Rio Ferdinand and Ian Wright, boxer David Haye, Olympians Denise Lewis and Louis Smith and actress Cecilia Noble.
The celebrity-laden segment will be shown as part of a star-studded weekend of Sport Relief on the BBC.
The sketch will air on Friday March 18 in the annual BBC One show hosted this year by Claudia Winkleman.
No preview yet, except the below image of the parody’s cast.
