“Barbershop: The Next Cut” stars Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Regina Hall, Anthony Anderson, Eve, JB Smoove, with Common and Nicki Minaj.
Directed by Malcolm D. Lee from a screenplay by Kenya Barris & Tracy Oliver, it is produced by Robert Teitel, George L. Tillman Jr., and Ice Cube.
Malcolm D. Lee, Becki Cross Trujillo, Ronald G. Muhammad and Jeff Kwatinetz serve as executive producers.
The PG13-rated film opens nationwide on April 15, 2016.
Ahead of that, stars of the film, Ice Cube and Common, have dropped a new music video titled “Real People,” with the tagline “From Beef to Brotherhood,” in which the two rapper/actors talk about their past feud, which began after Ice Cube took offense to a line about West Coast rap in Common’s “I Used to Love H.E.R.” many years ago. The good old days when rap beefs were settled on wax. The pair eventually made up with the help of Louis Farrakhan, whom Common shouts out in “Real People.”
