Los Angeles, California, April 10, 2013 Comedian, radio personality, and founder of the Females in Comedy Association (FICA) Hope Flood, will host the 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention 2013 (FICC) at the LAX Marriott Hotel. The event will be packed with networking and career changing resources for women in the comedy business.
The 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention 2013(FICC) will have workshops and seminars taught by top comedy professionals in the business. In 2011 Hope Flood founded the Females in Comedy Association (FICA) to provide educational tools, networking and resources for women in the male dominated comedy industry. This led to the launch of the Females in Comedy Convention (FICC), the first ever of its kind, which received overwhelming success with an impressive turnout from female comedians from all over the country and sold out showcases at the JSpot Comedy Club.
This coming April 23-28, the annual convention returns and promises to be even bigger and better with six days of activities and nightly showcases hosted by celebrity comediennes such as; Kim Whitley, Kim Coles, Cocoa Brown, Loni Love, Cookie Hull, Flame Monroe, Dominique Tiffany Haddish, Luenell, & Edwonda White and more all at top comedy clubs in LA.
Comediennes attending the convention will participate in panel discussions and classes with curriculum topics such as: The Business of Comedy, Grant Writing, PR/marketing, negotiating tactics, GYST Circuit/getting yourself together, health & fitness and defense training offered by sponsor/partner Divas in Defense™. Notable speakers on the roster are talent agents, writers, comedians, including Greg Dean, Buddy Lewis, T Faye Griffin, Sherita Herring, Judy Carter, Miss Laura Hayes, Tina Graham, plus many more industry veterans.
The convention program will be packed with entertainment and activities, including an honorary tribute recognizing and celebrating the life of actor/veteran comedienne Yvette Wilson (Aundell Wilkerson from the sitcoms The Parkers), who was succumbed by her battle against cervical cancer in 2012. This special luncheon tribute will include a host of friends, family and industry professionals on Sunday, April 28th from 3pm -7pm at The Game Sports Bar, 5630 W. Manchester Blvd., LA 90045. Other special events for worthy causes includes, “Comedy Slam Celebrity Hoop Jam” will be hosted by comedian/actor Katt Williams at Cal State University Dominguez Hills on Sat, April 27, from 10am-4pm and other halftime entertainment with ticket sales benefiting the charitable organization:
“A Nickel of Hope Inc. /Hopes Girlz Club” (a division of “City Lites Network”) Which provides mentorship for inner city girls at risk.
