Last night in Hollywood at The Xen Lounge (owned by Duane Martin and Tisha Campbell-Martin), there was quite a buzz about a riviting and inspiring documentary about Autism titled Colored My Mind that was produced and directed by Nia Hill, and debuted in front of a star studded audience. Stars in attendance were Duane Martin and his wife Tisha Campbell-Martin, DL Hughley and his wife LaDonna Hughley, Chaka Khan , Cedric The Entertainer, Boris Kodjoe and his wife Nicole Ari-Parker, Vanessa Bell-Calloway, Debbie Allen, Malinda Williams, Holly Robinson-Peete, Dolores Robinson, DeVon Franklin, Autism Speaks representatives and many others.
The 20 minute feature follows five women and their fight against the rise of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and exploring reasons for the inconsistencies in treatment and diagnoses, within the black community specifically.
The five women who “challenge the system to protect their families, and families that cannot protect themselves are LaDonna Hughley, Tammy McCrary, Shannon Nash, Donna Hunter, and Tisha Campbell-Martin. The film also features scripted scenes starring Blair Underwood, Nicole Ari-Parker and John Duffy.
