In December, it was announced that NBC was developing a pilot for a new comedy starring and created by up-and-coming comic, Jerrod Carmichael, which would be based on Carmichael’s comedy and life. It wasn’t picked up by the network, but NBC gave Carmichael another shot, with another new pilot, which the network was fast-tracking.
Clearly NBC wants to work with the young comic; as does HBO, who, earlier this year, ordered Carmichael’s first stand-up comedy special for the network, which was taped in Hollywood on May 7, and was directed by Spike Lee.
Produced for HBO by Funny Or Die, and executive produced by Anna Wenger, Betsy Koch and Jerrod Carmichael, it’s titled ‘Love at the Store,’ and is scheduled to debut on Saturday, October 4th at 10PM, only on HBO.
Jerrod Carmichael’s credits include the feature film “Neighbors” and the TV series “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” “Lucas Bros Moving Co” and “The Goodwin Games.”
