Over the past two days, writer/director H. M. Coakley, producers and the cast of his highly anticipated Horror Film “Holla II” have amazed audiences at both there Atlanta and New York premieres. Lines were out the door as curios fans came out at large to have a first glance at the first black comedy horror film to hit theatres in 13 years. Standing room only, along with the laughs and gasps taking place in the theatre proved, not only the success of the execution done by writer/director H. M. Coakley and producer/executive producer Monica “DollPhace” Floyd but the proven depth of some original music composed by Grammy nominated producer Drumma Boy.
Rockstone Releasing in association with True Vision Media Group, through a partnership with AMC Independents, will open Holla II in Atlanta, New York, Houston, Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit on Today in AMC Theaters with a wider release in coming weeks. The first scary movie since “Bones” (2000) to open in theaters, “Holla II” is also a first foray into the horror genre for the film’s stars Vanessa Bell Calloway (Showtime’s “Shameless”, “HawthoRNe”) and Kiely Williams (Disney’s “Cheetah Girls).
Holla II” also stars Greg Cipes (“True Blood”), Teairra Mari (“Lottery Ticket”) and Omar Gooding (“The Gospel”). “Holla II” is produced by Camille Irons Coakley, Monica Floyd, Drumma Boy and executive produced by Chasity Clark, and Floyd.
