Guordan Banks To Join Fantasia On Her “The Definition Of…” Tour!

Posted Nov 16, 2016

NEW YORK, November 16, 2016 R&B singer/songwriter Guordan Banks (pronounced Jour-dan) will join Grammy Award winner Fantasia on her “The Definition Of…” Tour, along with American Idol star, La’Porsha Renae.  Kicking off on November 16, the tour will take them throughout the east coast hitting Charleston, Toledo, Ft. Lauderdale, Savannah, Mobile and more, before wrapping on December 4 in Dayton, OH. All tour dates are listed below and tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.

The tour comes on the heels of Guordan Banks releasing the remix to his #1 hit song “Keep You In Mind.” The remix features Chris Brown and is available for purchase on iTunes. The remix has already gained significant buzz with over 2 million plays after Chris Brown leaked it on his Soundcloud page. Both versions will be featured on Guordan Banks’ upcoming debut album, UNPOPULAR, which will be released in 2017 on his own label, Bank On It Entertainment.

The success of “Keep You in Mind” led to Banks becoming the first solely independent artist to have a number one song on the Billboard Adult R&B chart. The hit song surpassed every major label artist in the format and exceeded expectations of many industry insiders.

The original version of the song gained the attention of producers of Issa Rae’s new critically acclaimed HBO show, “Insecure,” and they asked the singer/songwriter to feature the song in Episode 5 of the series, which aired on November 6th.

In addition to his number one hit, Banks has had major success as a songwriter. The Philadelphia native has written songs for artists such as John Legend, Keyshia Cole, K. Michelle, Vivian Green, Lalah Hathaway, Ro James and Marcus Canty; and has collaborated with Kanye West, 50 Cent, Chris Brown, and Meek Mill.

Raised in an adverse environment in Philadelphia, Guordan Banks’ parents, both preachers, surrounded their eight children with music and created a home where music was a centerpiece. At a young age, Guordan struggled with a speech impediment, which led to rejection in school plays and other activities, so his mom encouraged him to use singing as a form of everyday communication with the family. Singing became a way of life for Guordan and soon after he began exploring songwriting. Undeterred by the challenges in his early life experiences and buoyed the support of his family, Banks pursued a pathway that has guided his success as a talented singer and songwriter.

Guordan’s upcoming debut album UNPOPULAR, will include collaborations with actor Omari Hardwick (Starz’s POWER), Larry Gold, the legendary string composer who has worked with Kanye West and Justin Timberlake; and production from Rodney Jerkins (Darkchild).
