PEORIA – Some of the funniest people in America are in Peoria to help honor one of the most influential comedians of all time, Richard Pryor.
Six different comedians took part in “A Night for Richard” at the Peoria Civic Center.
The lineup included George Lopez, Mike Epps, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley, and Charlie Murphy.
Pryor was born and raised in Peoria.
The money raised will go towards finishing a 7’5 foot sculpture of the famous comedian, created by Peoria artist Preston Jackson.
One show-goer said, “We heard it was going to be a star-studded cast in memory of Mr. Pryor, who’s a legend. We just came out to support.”
The sculpture is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2014.
