Yesterday we reported the news that The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder was moving forward to release another new animated cartoon on Adult Swim that is sure to raise eyebrows; this new venture is titled Black Jesus.
Well, last night we discovered that the new series is NOT animated at all, as it will stars live action stars.
Yesterday, we also reported that other industry insiders stated that Black Jesus, a brand new half-hour live-action scripted comedy, will feature Gerald “Slink” Johnson (of Grand Theft Auto V fame) as Jesus living in present-day Compton, CA on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers. The show is also set to stars comedians Charlie Murphy, John Witherspoon, and Corey Holcomb and that the series production is well underway.
Thanks to an EXCLUSIVE interview we conducted late last night with Corey Holcomb we found out more details about the show. Check out the interview below:
McGruder, who created the series, will serve as executive producer through his 5 Mutts Prods. along with writer-director Mike Clattenberg (Trailer Park Boys) and LEG’s Norman Aladjem and John Bravakis.
