We just discovered the news that comedian Eddie Griffin is launching an urban version of NBC’s Saturday Night Live!
You read that right; according to our sources, we hear that Griffin will be filming a an urban version of Saturday Night Live, right now tentatively titled Friday Night Live that will feature comedians and musical acts all being broadcast from Las Vegas. The show will also feature sketches and may even have an urban version of ‘Headlines’.
The cast of comedians (so far) that will be their Primetime Players are comedians Spanky Hayes, T-Rexx, Thomas Ward, Teddy Ray, and Mason Pryor. No official word on who the Executive Producers of the show will be but we hear that they are looking for women comedians and additional writers to help fill out the cast.
As of this writing, Griffin is in final negotiations with Spike TV or HBO to broadcast to broadcast the show.
