We just discovered the news that actress and first time director Regina King has just wrapped the film based on the novel Let The Church Say Amen, and things went so smoothly that word has leaked to us that she has signed on for TWO more films based on the books from ReShonda Tate Billingsley.
The film, Let the Church Say Amen was produced by Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit, BET, Regina King’s production company named Royal Ties, and Roger Bobb.
The film is adapted by the 2004 book by ReShonda Tate Billingsley which revolves around the wayward daughter of a charismatic Houston pastor whose family falls apart over the years while he’s busy building up his church. The film adaptation was written by actress and writer Crystal Garrett.
Now with filming just wrapping in Atlanta, we hear that the film makers are moving forward with the same cast and film makers for two more films based on several books from the same author.
Most recently King, a television vet who is a regular on TNT’s Southland, is set to start these two projects immediately that will probably both land on BET.
