Eddie Murphy Shows His Dramatic Side In ‘Cook’! Photo Inside!

"Cook"

Here’s the first look at Eddie Murphy starrer Cook along with actress Britt Robertson, which has begun principal photography in Los Angeles. Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon are producing for Cinelou Films, the banner behind Jennifer Aniston indie Cake, and two-time Oscar nominee Bruce Beresford is directing. Susan McMartin (Mom) penned the script based on her own experiences with the cook that came to live with her and her mother when McMartin was a child. Initially, the arrangement was intended to last six months—the life expectancy of McMartin’s ill mother—but it instead developed into a lasting and influential friendship of 15 years.

Murphy plays the title role, Mr. Church, who begins cooking meals for 11-year-old Charlotte (called Charlie) and her mother, Marie (Natascha McElhone) in the early 1970s. As the older Charlie (Britt Robertson) continues to navigate through life without Marie, she comes to rely on the quiet and service-oriented Mr. Church for far more than the preparation of meals.

Cast also includes Lucy Fry, Xavier Samuel and Christian Madsen. Lee Nelson and David Buelow also are producing for Envision Media Arts. Yu Wei-Chung and Brad Kaplan serve as executive producers, with Stephanie Caleb, Scott Karol and David Hopwood co- producing.
