According to several of our industry sources, it seems that comedian and actor Eddie Murphy has decided to agree to be in a new dramatic film!
Yes, we hear that Murphy has agreed to a role in the yet to be titled film from Bruce Beresford (best known for the films Driving Miss Daisy and Breaker Morant). Several sources state that he agreed to the role that was once offered to Samuel L. Jackson who had to pull out because of scheduling conflicts. Murphy is set to play “a cook who is hired by a dying man to prepare meals for his girlfriend and her daughter when he passes.”
The script was written by Susan McMartin (of Californication and Two And A Half Men fame) and we hear production is set to begin next month.
It should be noted that the last time Murphy played in a dramatic film it was in 2007, and he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of soul singer James “Thunder” Early in Dreamgirls.
More news on this shortly.
