Does The Lyrics To Eddie Murphy's Latest Single 'Red Light' Take The Comic Into New Territory?

Posted Jul 8, 2013

Eddie MurphyAs you may already know, over a week ago we posted the exclusive video of Eddie Murphy’s latest single titled Red Light that also features Snoop Lion (AKA Snoop Dogg). Our sources have stated to us that this song is the preliminary to many things that Murphy is intending to do in the very near future, including a new album and a possible comedy tour.

Anyway, in the new song lyrics of Red Light, if you really listen closely to what Murphy is trying to say you may notice that he is raising some interesting observations in his music that could be considered by many as political statements like many reggae musicians before him. Reggae musicians like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Junior Murvin come to mind because they all felt that music was/is the best way to be heard.

Now it seems that Murphy has joined those ranks with his new song.

The new song mentions that people have changed and the world has changed. Does he mean that the world used to be so nice and that things are getting worse? Is this a political statement he is trying to make? Is Murphy trying to get us to pay attention to the politics of the world as a people?

Check out the lyrics below and tell us what you think:
