As we previously reported, we got a chance today to be at the press junket for the upcoming new film titled Baggage Claim from Director David E. Talbert and FOX Searchlight.
As you already know by now the film stars Paula Patton, Jill Scott, and Derek Luke as the male lead. In traditional David E. Talbert manner, he continues to set trends by his casting choices as he cast Luke in his first comedy film and as the male lead despite potential grumblings from social media outlets. But as usual, Talbert got it right AGAIN by casting Luke in the male lead role, and from the opening credits Luke took command in his first comedy film and scored. It’s almost certain that many people across America who never even imagined him in a comedy film will never look at him the same again. Luke delivers an amazing performance and captures the audience with the essence of what the film is really about; love, and with some of the best lines in the film the film reaches its climax beautifully.
Anyway we got a chance to speak with him at today’s junket about being cast in the new role in an urban comedy film and what his thoughts were about tackling that role.
