TBS has announced that its debut of the new series “Angie Tribeca” will launch as part of a 25-hour marathon on Sunday, Jan. 17, at 9 pm (ET/PT), during which the network will hold an all-day, all-night binge-a-thon, when all 10 episodes of the first season of the new series will air back-to-back, and commercial-free.
“Angie Tribeca” will then move to its regular timeslot, Mondays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), beginning Jan. 25.
The binge-a-thon will be packed with stars from “Angie Tribeca” and other TBS shows, along with special guests, surprise appearances, music, comedy and more.
Hosted by Deon Cole, who plays Detective DJ Tanner in “Angie Tribeca,” the Binge-A-Thon will feature series stars Rashida Jones, Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Andrée Vermeulen and Jagger, as well as Angie Tribeca executive producers/creators Steve and Nancy Carell, along with executive producer & showrunner Ira Ungerleider.
The Binge-A-Thon will also feature appearances by TBS stars like Conan O’Brien, host of the late-night hit “CONAN.”
In addition to the roster of TBS personalities, the binge-a-thon will include revealing interviews about the making of “Angie Tribeca,” deleted scenes and surprise guest appearances.
Viewers will get to join the celebration, as well. TBS will be opening up the binge-a-thon phone lines at various times throughout the marathon, inviting fans to call in to talk about how much they love the show, ask cast members questions about the complex storylines or even serenade Rashida with a song.
“Angie Tribeca” is TBS’s first-ever police procedural and is the brainchild of Steve and Nancy Carell, who are executive-producing the series through their Carousel Television. The series follows a squad of committed LAPD detectives who investigate the most serious cases, from the murder of a ventriloquist to a rash of baker suicides.
At the center of “Angie Tribeca” is Angie Tribeca, played by Rashida Jones as a lone-wolf detective who is none too happy when partnered with J Geils, played by Hayes MacArthur. Jere Burns plays the squad’s apoplectic captain. Helping solve each complex case are detective Danny Tanner, played by Deon Cole; Dr. Monica Scholls, the quirky, bespectacled medical examiner played by Andrée Vermeulen; and Hoffman, Tanner’s K9 German Shepard partner played by Jagger.
In conjunction with its U.S. debut, “Angie Tribeca” will roll out on numerous Turner International entertainment networks in January. Turner’s Latin American and German networks are set to join the 25-hour marathon on Jan. 17, while Spanish, Nordic and Asian networks (both truTV and Warner TV) will premiere all first-season episodes at one time.
TBS has already renewed “Angie Tribeca” for a record 10 additional seasons consisting of one episode each, giving viewers a season premiere and season finale in one really tight package. The new seasons are slated to air in late 2016.
