Spike Lee added another big name to his next film, and was so happy that he threw it on Instagram with, at most, the slightest of filters. The director says comedian Dave Chappelle is the latest to be cast in Chiraq, a musical comedy that’s a reimagining of Aristophanes’ playLysistrata. But instead of the background of Greek warfare, it’ll be Chicago’s gangland. This marks Chappelle’s first scripted program since his largely successful Comedy Central sketch show, Chappelle’s Show, which finished in 2006. He also threw a Block Party in Brooklyn that featured performances from rumored future Chiraq costar Common.
As of now, the cast reportedly includes Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack, and Jeremy Piven; however, Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson is confirmed. According to Spike’s Instagram feed, filming has already begun (with his two kids on set).
