We just discovered today from an article in Hollywood reporter that comedic actor and writer Aasif Mandvi is finally going to land his own show, and it’s going to be on CBS! This is great news, because this comedian has been around for years and he has paid his dues for sure!
Anyway, here is the article from The Hollywood Reporter!
The Bombay-born actor-comedian will write and star in a project about a divorced marriage counselor who doles out relationship advice.
CBS is getting into business with The Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi.
The Bombay-born actor-comedian is set to pen a script about a recently divorced marriage counselor who dispenses relationship advice. If picked up, Mandvi would star in the untitled project, which hails from Tagline (Man Up, Psych) and CBS TV Studios.
Mandvi, whose past small-screen credits include Jericho, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and ER, made his first appearance on Jon Stewart‘s Comedy Central show in summer 2006. Before that, he had dabbled in theater, including a role in the 2002 Broadway revival of Oklahoma!
The comes as rival ABC picked up a comedy project from Craig Kilborn, another former Daily Show talent.
Mandvi is repped by ICM.
