LOS ANGELES – The blacker the berry the sweeter the jokes? What is it about the African King of Comedy Michael Blackson that makes us want more?
Well, on August 12, 2014, Comedian-writer-actor Michael Blackson with ensemble cast including comedians K Dubb, Ray Lepowski, AJ Johnson, Howie Bell, Rip Michaels, Skeet, Marshall Brandon, Roger Rodd and the talented Chris Clark filmed episodes of Blackson’s Basement Comedy Show at the hip, historic Ha Ha Café Comedy Club.
The idea of the comedy show is it is a series (think of Byron Allen’s Comics Unleashed except with a no-holds barred attitude) which will feature comedians who have been on such networks and shows and networks as Comedy Central, Late Night With Craig Ferguson, and B.E.T.’s Comic View, just to name a few.
There’s even an Emmy Award winning writer in the bunch! Blackson has teamed with Harrington Thomas Productions and Freeway Studios. He has churned out a plethora of comedy shows over the past years and another hilarious hit show is coming our way.
When asked why a show Blackson responded, “ I want to help the up and coming comedians have a platform to showcase their talent. I’m very excited that I can offer a new way to watch comedy. I hope my creative pursuits will chip away at the glass ceiling for comedians or crack it.”
We hear that the show has already filmed four episodes for Netflix and may also land on Showtime.
