The rise of comedian Jay Pharoah is going to take a lot of folks by surprise, and maybe even some comedians jealous. Why do you ask? Well, Pharoah became one of the quickest Saturday Night Live hires to get a sit-down with David Letterman this past week on the Late Show.
If you never heard of Pharoah, and unless you watch SNL you probably didnt, he does tons of voices, most remarkably big ones (and he does them dead on), folks like Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, President Barack Obama -with superb accuracy, not heard since the likes of Eddie Murphy when he was starting out.
The other amazing thing about him is he’s just a featured player in his rookie season of being on SNL. The other rookies such as Vanessa Bayer has a great recurring sketch, Paul Brittain and Taran Killam are still hoping to get some real screen time on SNL, and here is Pharoah doing panel with Letterman!
